על השבט

שבט ערבה נוסד בשנת 2001. השבט הינו אחד משבטי "הנהגת צבר", שמרכזת תחתיה את כל שבטי תנועת הצופים ברחבי העולם, מתוכם 25 בצפון אמריקה.

השבט פועל באזור Metrowest, NJ.

חניכי השבט ושכב"ג ערבה

חניכי השבט הם בכיתות ג' עד י"ב, ועוברים פעולות שבועיות בקבוצות על פי שכבות הגיל. 

השכבה הצעירה כוללת חמש קבוצות מכיתה ג' ועד ח'. את הקבוצות האלה מדריכים חברי השכבה הבוגרת, השכב״ג. 

חברי שכב״ג: כיתות ט' עד י"ב הם מובילי השבט, הפעילים, המדריכים של השכבה הצעירה, המרכזים הצעירים, והם גם עוברים פעולות שמועברות ע"י המרכזים הבוגרים.

כל צוות ההדרכה החל במרכזים הבוגרים, ועד המדריכים והפעילים מקבלים הכשרה מקצועית וליווי על ידי הנהגת הצופים.

המדריכים בונים את הפעולות שעוברים החניכים, ומעבירים אותם תהליך חינוכי וערכי לאורך השנה בעזרת משחקים, ומטודות וצופיות.

הפעילות בשבט

הפעילות בשבט מתקיימת מדי יום ראשון. 

בנוסף לפעילות השוטפת, החניכים משתתפים באירועים שונים במהלך השנה, במסגרת שבטית או הנהגתית (יחד עם שבטים נוספים). במסגרת השבטית, החניכים יוצאים לטיול משפחות שבטי, סמינרי שכב"ג, מחנה חורף, מחנה קיץ, יום צופה, ועוד. במסגרת ההנהגתית, חניכי השכב"ג יוצאים למחנה שכב"ג וסמינרים שונים, חניכי ח׳ ו-ט' יוצאים לקורס הדרכה ועוד.

בנוסף, שבט ערבה משמש בית לקהילה הישראלית, ועורך אירועים רבים אליהם מוזמן הקהל הרחב. מדי שנה מציינים בשבט ביחד את החגים חנוכה, פורים במסיבה שבטית, את יום העצמאות בפיקניק קהילתי.  בנוסף, מתקיימים בשבט טקסי זיכרון: טקס יום הזיכרון ליצחק רבין ז"ל, טקס יום הזיכרון לחללי מערכות ישראל ונפגעי פעולות האיבה, טקס ליום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה. כאמור, כולם מוזמנים להגיע ולקחת חלק בפעילות הקהילתית.

בעלי תפקידים בשבט

ראש שבט - Scout Master/Head of Chapter: ראש השבט הוא תפקיד התנדבותי שממלאים הורים של חניכים בשבט. ראשי השבט מנהלים את פעילות השבט ברמה הלוגיסטית ומובילים תחומי אחריות נרחבים בקיומו של השבט

גזבר - Treasurer: גזבר הוא תפקיד התנדבותי שממלאים הורים של חניכים בשבט

מרכזים בוגרים - Adult Leaders: ש״ש - בני נוער בוגרי התנועה בשנת שירות: המרכזים הבוגרים מנהלים את פעילות השבט ומובילים את התהליכים החינוכיים-ערכיים של חניכי השבט והשכב"ג. הם חונכים את בעלי התפקידים בשכב"ג, מרכזים את תחומי ההדרכה בשבט, יוצקים תוכן למפעלים ועוד. בנוסף הם המדריכים של השכב"ג. בכל שנה מצטרפים אלינו שני ש״ש!

Shevet Arava is the Tzofim branch of Metrowest, New Jersey

Shevet Arava is the Israeli scouts troop of Metrowest – an exceptional program for Israeli-Jewish youths. We provide a positive social and learning environment where they share a connection to Israel and Hebrew, enjoy fun and formative activities, grow as individuals, engage with the broader Jewish and Metro West communities, develop life and leadership skills and emerge as counselors and leaders. In short, we believe that we are nurturing the future of our Jewish community.

Shevet Arava is a member of the Friends of Israel Scouts, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

The Shevet is open to all members of the public who have an understanding of Hebrew and can participate in Hebrew activities. We meet once a week on Sundays and take part if many additional special events, seminars and camps.

All of the activities are conducted by high-school age youth. The activities are value oriented. We teach about Israel, scouting, friendship, leadership, self-esteem, and many more values. The Shevet is open to children from 3rd grade all the way to 12th grade and is a non-religious, non-partisan organization.

The Shevet takes an active role in the community and is always looking for new ways to help other organizations.

We accept everyone and we will be glad to see you come visit us on a Sunday and see what Tzofim and Shevet Arava are all about!

About the Israeli Scouts Movement

The Israeli Scouts Movement is a youth movement which conducts programming throughout the State of Israel and is currently the largest youth movement in Israel.

Since the scouting movement strives to reach each and every Israeli child, regardless of their location, the Tzabar leadership also operates throughout North America in order to reach Israeli youth there. Their activities are based on the morals of the overall scouting movement and are derived from the basic principles of the Israeli youth movement as well.

Educating youth about democracy, tolerance and social responsibility, love for the land of Israel, and the formation of both a strong Israeli and Jewish identity are the main purposes which continually underline activities. The “Tzabar” reaches youth, ages 9-18 (grades 3-12).  Beyond a social experience, the children and teenagers gain a higher understanding and are equipped with tools aimed to strengthening their bond with Israel, and to foster and sustain a strong Israeli and Jewish identity.

In order to build a stronger Jewish and Israeli identity, activities are conducted in Hebrew.

Activities take place once a week, on Sunday afternoons.

The Shvatim (tribes/chapters) will have a number of meaningful events and activities throughout the year including: a yearly “kickoff” seminar for the older grades, a winter camping experience, ceremonies, celebrations and services. In addition, there will be a number of events for the entire group of members in the leadership grade including: a camp for the older grades – “Machane Tzababa”, a seminar for the leadership grades, a summer camp on the east coast, and more.

The Shvatim (tribes/chapters) are run by their counselors, older scout members, in conjunction with parent associations that are headed by a Chairperson and a Shevet leader.

The scouting activities are aimed at the development of our youth’s intellect, social skills, and morals through activities tailored for specific age groups including personal conversations, careful considerations, various projects, camping experiences, ceremonies, holiday celebration, music, sports and of course, lots of fun in the process.

In addition to standard weekly activities, special activities such as celebrating Israeli holidays, performing community service and Friday-night Shabbat services take place as well.
